Dunamu and Visa Team Up for Stablecoin Payments and AI-Powered Finance
Dunamu, the operator of South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, has partnered with Visa to develop payment and financial services built around stablecoins and artificial intelligence. The companies announced their collaboration on August 28, with Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok and Visa Global President Oliver Jenkyn unveiling a roadmap for their partnership at Visa's Global Market Support Center in San Francisco.
The partnership pairs Dunamu's digital asset technology with Visa's global payments network to explore stablecoin-based payment and remittance services across major markets. They will examine business models built on OUSD, the open-standard stablecoin backed by a consortium that includes Visa, Mastercard, BlackRock, Circle, and more than 140 other institutions.
The companies also plan to combine artificial intelligence with stablecoin-based settlement infrastructure and consider technology for agentic commerce, where AI agents search for products or services and complete purchases on a user's behalf. Dunamu and Visa said the partnership will roll out in stages, with an initial focus on stability, transparency, interoperability, and regulatory compliance.
