South Korea-based Upbit operator Dunamu has partnered with global payment giant Visa to develop stablecoin payments and cross-border remittance services. The partnership combines Dunamu's digital asset technology with Visa's global payment network, allowing for AI-driven financial services.

The companies will study stablecoin payments models using OUSD, a dollar-backed token developed by Open Standard. OUSD is designed as shared infrastructure with independent governance, unlike company-operated USDT and USDC.

Visa has been actively exploring stablecoins through partnerships in Asia, including a recent agreement with Shinhan Financial Group for testing issuance, remittance, and redemption. Stablecoin payments amounted to $7 billion in annualized settlement volume in April, according to Visa.
