Dune Analytics Limits Free Tier Amid Rising Compute Costs
Dune Analytics is making changes to its free tier, limiting users who created accounts before July 21, 2026, to view-only access. Starting September 10, 2026, these users will no longer be able to run queries unless they upgrade to a paid plan.
The company cites rising compute costs as the reason for this change. Previously, users with legacy free accounts had access to 2,500 free credits per month, allowing them to write and run SQL queries against massive blockchain datasets.
Accounts created after July 21, 2026, are not subject to these restrictions. Dune currently offers two main paid tiers: the Analyst plan for $65 per month on annual billing (4,000 credits) and the Plus plan for $349 per month annually (25,000 credits).
The change has sparked a mixed reaction from Dune's user base, with some viewing it as the end of an era for accessible blockchain analytics. Others see it as a necessary step to address rising infrastructure costs.
