The European Blockchain Convention (EBC) is returning to Barcelona for its 12th edition after an 11-week hiatus, marking Europe's first major institutional gathering since the MiCA regulation took effect. EBC12 will take place on September 16-17 at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, and it's expected to attract over 5,000 attendees from more than 90 countries.

As the industry adapts to the new regulatory framework, EBC12 will focus on key topics such as CASP licensing, stablecoin issuance, and the role of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) in cross-border settlement. The event is where European deal flow happens, and this year it's expected that 80 of Europe's top 100 banks will be represented.

Deutsche Börse has invested $200 million in Kraken, and Santander's digital bank, Openbank, has expanded its crypto trading services for customers across Germany and Spain. These institutions, along with others, will be discussing the next steps in Barcelona this September.
