eCash Fork Delayed as Mainnet Launch Scheduled for October 31st

The eCash fork has been in the works for some time now, and recent developments have brought it closer to reality. In August, an Alpha chain was produced from height 963,648, but this was not the permanent fork that many had expected. Instead, it was a rehearsal or 'test run' of sorts, with the actual mainnet launch scheduled for October 31st at block 973,728.

This means that Bitcoin holders will not see any changes to their assets until the mainnet launch in October. The Alpha chain that was produced is simply a practice run, and it does not represent the final allocation of ECX assets. In other words, what was distributed during the Alpha phase is not the same as what will be distributed when the permanent fork takes place.

The revised schedule has three stages: Alpha at roughly 963,648 on August 23rd, Beta near 967,680 on September 20th, and permanent Mainnet near 973,728 on October 31st. The goal is to create a separate ECX asset for Bitcoin holders, but this will not happen until the mainnet launch.
