Eclipse Brings Hybrid Layer 2 Solution to Market Combining Ethereum and Solana
Eclipse Labs is gearing up to launch its mainnet in October, bringing a hybrid 'Solana on Ethereum' layer 2 solution to the market.
The project combines elements from Ethereum, Solana, and Celestia blockchains with the goal of addressing scalability issues in Web3.
Eclipse utilizes the Solana Virtual Machine for transaction execution and operates as an Ethereum layer 2 solution, incorporating Celestia's data storage capabilities to bring 'Web2 scale to Web3'.
CEO Vijay Chetty confirmed the timeline, stating that public mainnet will launch toward the end of October. The project is currently in the developer mainnet phase.
Eclipse aims to avoid the perceived weaknesses of its component blockchains, including Solana's decentralization issues and Ethereum's slow base layer transactions, which have limited their widespread adoption.
