EEA Gets Expiry Perps: MiFID-Regulated Bitcoin Futures Contracts Go Live
The European Economic Area (EEA) has seen the introduction of a new financial instrument called X-Perps, or Expiry Perps, which are MiFID-regulated Bitcoin futures contracts. These contracts track the price of Bitcoin and can be traded with up to 10x leverage.
X-Perps offer several benefits over traditional spot trading and other derivatives, including the ability to profit from either direction and hedge against spot without selling the underlying asset. They also have a unique funding mechanism that ensures prices are anchored to the spot market every eight hours.
The first X-Perp contract has an expiry date of March 28, 2031, and is available for trading on OKX and TradingView platforms in Europe. It's worth noting that these contracts come with some risks, including funding costs and liquidation risk, so it's essential to monitor margins and consider stop-losses.
X-Perps are now live on TradingView in the EEA, along with other assets such as SPCX (SpaceX), Gold, Silver, WTI & Brent oil, and various cryptocurrencies like BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, and more. The OKX platform offers low-latency trading, deep liquidity, 1:1 Proof of Reserves, and is used by over 120 million traders worldwide.
