Ehrsam's Primavera Seeks Control of Venezuelan Oil Fields Amid Sector Restructuring
Primavera, led by Fred Ehrsam, co-founder of Coinbase and Paradigm, is negotiating to acquire three oil fields in Venezuela's Orinoco Belt. The blocks, Boca, Guico, and Guara, are operated by Alvorada Heavy Industries and have significant oil reserves.
The potential acquisition comes as Venezuela undergoes restructuring in its energy sector. The White House recently released details of a new agreement granting North American Blue Energy Partners 100-year concessions to operate 17 oil fields, along with a 35% equity stake for the US government.
Primavera's current pursuit is a conventional energy investment, but its leadership roots in crypto signal the increasing cross-sector flow of expertise and innovation. Ehrsam's continued leadership roles within Coinbase and Paradigm underline his ongoing influence in the digital asset ecosystem even as Primavera's negotiations unfold outside the blockchain sphere.
