EigenLayer Whale Activity Surges Despite Flat Price
Despite its price remaining flat at $0.23, EigenLayer has seen a significant surge in whale activity and new wallet creation. According to Santiment's on-chain update, EigenLayer registered 60 whale transactions on Wednesday, the highest single-day count since March 16. This is accompanied by 219 new EIGEN wallets being created, more than any day since June 10.
The divergence between on-chain activity and price suggests that large holders are positioning themselves for potential future gains. A flood of fresh addresses often precedes a repricing, but the flat price indicates this isn't a retail-driven breakout. Instead, it appears to be early accumulation, which can signal a stronger uptrend.
Santiment points to several catalysts driving the quiet accumulation, including EigenCloud's renewed attention and fee-focused tokenomics. The restaking mechanism in EigenLayer allows Ethereum security to spread across actively validated services without each project building a separate validator set. This proposition is tied to Ethereum's developer intensity, which consistently ranks it among top blockchains by developer activity.
