El Salvador Sees Small Crypto Remittance Gain
The Central Bank of El Salvador has released data showing that the country received $5 billion in overseas remittances in the first half of 2026.
Of this amount, only $35.4 million was settled through cryptocurrency channels, accounting for about 0.7% of the total remittance volume.
This represents a 39.1% increase from the same period in 2025, when $25.4 million was received through crypto channels.
The data shows that traditional banks and remittance companies still hold over 84% market share.
