MARA's CEO Fred Thiel emphasized that electricity is becoming a scarce resource in the industry. He noted that demand for electricity is growing, but supply cannot keep up, making it more profitable to route electricity to data centers than to mine crypto assets.

Thiel stated that MARA will continue mining Bitcoin, but only if it doesn't create an electricity shortage for AI needs. The company controls 36,300 BTC and regularly reduces its portfolio to fund expansion in the AI sector.

The CEO explained that building a data center takes up to 24 months and that companies can use existing sites to expand their capacity. He also mentioned that Jensen Huang's pyramid model shows that electricity is at the base of the pyramid, making miners attractive providers of power and sites.
