ElizaOS, a token tied to the open-source Eliza AI-agent framework, has plummeted to an all-time low after its creator, Shaw Walters, declared it 'dead'. The token, which was trading around $0.000285 at press time, has lost nearly 19% of its value over the past 24 hours.

The collapse reverses a previous run-up when the project's earlier version peaked at a market capitalization of about $2.5 billion in January 2025.

Walters attributed the token's demise to ongoing legal problems, stating that the project lacked resources to continue defending itself against claims filed by tokenholders represented by Burwick Law.

The lawsuit, which was dismissed with prejudice on July 8, alleged false advertising, deceptive practices, negligent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment.

Walters said there would be no remaining funds for token buybacks, and that he would not allow another token to be associated with Eliza while he continues building the underlying operating system.
