ElizaOS Token Collapses After Rebranding from AI16z
The ElizaOS token has lost its market value significantly after being rebranded from ai16z. The project, initially launched in October 2024 with a pitch that included an AI agent and a fund, raised $75,000 through DAOs.fun before its market value climbed to around $2.5 billion by January 2025.
However, the token's migration from ai16z to ElizaOS resulted in a diluted public holder share and shifted a large portion of the new token supply to insider-controlled entities, according to Burwick Law's complaint. The lawsuit, Pikabea v. Walters, filed on April 20, 2026, alleges that the project marketed itself as an AI-managed venture fund with an autonomous agent called Marc AIndreessen, but humans were making the decisions.
The token's market value has collapsed to around $3.9 million, according to CoinMarketCap. The ElizaOS framework is still being actively developed and maintained by a community of developers, but the token holders are facing significant losses.
Chris Dixon of a16z Crypto had previously flagged the issue with the project's branding, stating that Andreessen Horowitz demanded the project change its name due to brand confusion. The rebranding did not address the underlying issues, and the project has now been shut down by Eliza Labs due to market conditions and missed revenue targets.
