Emirates Accepts Crypto Payments for Flight Bookings Through Crypto.com Pay
Emirates has started accepting cryptocurrency payments for flight bookings through Crypto.com Pay. The airline's partnership with Crypto.com, announced in July 2023, allows eligible UAE residents to pay for tickets using their digital assets on Emirates' website and mobile app.
The service supports bookings settled in UAE dirhams and is part of the airline's push to expand digital payment options under Dubai's cashless economy strategy. To use Crypto.com Pay, customers must have a Crypto.com account and select it as the payment method during checkout.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said that introducing cryptocurrency payments is aimed at giving customers more choice while catering to digitally savvy travelers. The launch supports the Dubai Cashless Strategy under the D33 Economic Agenda, which aims to make 90% of all financial transactions digital by the end of 2026.
Crypto.com President and Chief Operating Officer Eric Anziani said that partnering with Emirates is a milestone for Crypto.com's Pay feature. The payment integration is powered by Crypto.com's Dubai entity, which became the first Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) to receive a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) licence from the Central Bank of the UAE.
