Emirates Accepts Cryptocurrency Payments from UAE Residents
Emirates Airlines has expanded its payment options by partnering with Crypto.com to allow eligible UAE residents to pay for flights using cryptocurrencies. The service, which is currently limited to UAE residents, enables customers to authorize payment from their Crypto.com wallet through the airline's website or app. Mobile users are redirected to the Crypto.com app, while desktop customers scan a QR code at checkout.
Emirates settles payments in UAE dirhams rather than holding onto cryptocurrencies, with Crypto.com handling the conversion process. Adnan Kazim, Emirates' deputy president and chief commercial officer, attributed the move to changing consumer preferences among younger generations who manage their finances primarily from their mobile devices.
