Emirates Joins Cryptocurrency Payment Revolution with UAE Customers

Share

Dubai's Emirates airline has introduced cryptocurrency payments for flight bookings through its website and mobile app. The option, powered by Crypto.com Pay, allows eligible UAE customers to make purchases in UAE dirhams (AED) using their digital wallets.

According to Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, the initiative reflects the 'rapidly evolving preferences of a younger, digitally fluent generation who manage their money and plan their journeys primarily from their phones.'

The launch is part of Dubai's Cashless Strategy, aiming for 90% of financial transactions to be conducted digitally by the end of 2026. Emirates joins other airlines like Air Arabia, which accepted the UAE-backed AE Coin stablecoin earlier this year.
