Emirates Unveils Crypto-Powered Flight Payment Option for UAE Residents
Emirates has launched a new payment option for eligible UAE residents to fund flight bookings using Crypto.com Pay. This initiative, which began on July 28, allows customers to settle transactions in UAE dirhams (AED) through Emirates' website or mobile app.
To use this feature, customers must have an active Crypto.com account and make qualifying AED bookings. According to Emirates, the airline has not announced plans to accept specific cryptocurrency tokens directly.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, stated, 'Bringing this initiative to life delivers on our commitment to expanding customer choice in how they pay for travel.'
The integration is powered by Foris DAX Middle East FZE, the Dubai entity of Crypto.com, which operates under a Stored Value Facilities licence from the Central Bank of the UAE. This move supports the Dubai Cashless Strategy, aiming for 90% digital transactions across government and private sectors by the end of 2026.
