Empery Digital's Shrinking Free BTC Balance Raises Risk Profile
Empery Digital's Bitcoin treasury story has taken a sharp turn as the company sold a cumulative 1,635 BTC between July 1 and August 6, raising about $102.2 million.
This sale brings Empery Digital's reported Bitcoin holdings down to 1,279 BTC, but what's more important is that 954 BTC are pledged as collateral for $35 million of debt, leaving only 325 BTC available for free use.
Investors should not treat all 1,279 BTC equally, as the unencumbered portion can be used freely without affecting debt arrangements. The 325 BTC figure matters because it shows how much Bitcoin remains flexible after collateral restrictions.
The company's balance sheet should be viewed in a different light now that investors know about the pledged coins and cash burn. This changes how they read the company's balance sheet, focusing on how much BTC Empery Digital can actually control without triggering financing constraints.
