Empery Ditches Bitcoin for AI Infrastructure
Empery Digital (EMPY.US) has undergone a significant strategic shift in its business model. The company, previously focused solely on holding Bitcoin, is now investing heavily in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The move comes after Empery completed a $20 million preferred stock investment in Cardinal Data Power and ceased using its previous asset management dashboard as of June 30. This change was made due to the distortion of net asset value (NAV) calculations based solely on Bitcoin holdings, according to Woofun AI.
As of July 10, Empery's balance sheet shows it holds 1,514 BTC and has cash reserves of approximately $73.9 million, while carrying $45 million in outstanding debt. The company also faces potential risks if the pending $62.1 million asset acquisition is terminated, with only $400,000 recoverable.
The success of Empery's transformation will depend on the completion of asset acquisitions in the Midwest and signing formal lease agreements, which are key indicators for evaluating business expansion and excess returns outside the balance sheet.
