Erebor Bank Valued at $9.5 Billion After Six Months of Explosive Growth
Erebor Bank has reached a valuation of $9.5 billion after just six months in operation, making it the most valuable private bank in the United States. Founded by Palmer Luckey and Joe Lonsdale, the bank received its national charter in February 2026 and has since grown rapidly, with deposits increasing from $1.1 billion to $4.6 billion by July.
Erebor's growth is significant because it fills a gap left by the collapse of Silvergate and Signature Bank in March 2023. These banks served the crypto industry but were unable to recover after their failures, leaving a vacuum that Erebor has stepped into.
The bank's service model is unique, offering FDIC insured deposit accounts, crypto collateralized lending, fiat to stablecoin conversion, and blockchain-based payment rails for 24/7 settlement. This approach positions Erebor as the infrastructure layer between the traditional financial system and the stablecoin economy.
