Eric Trump Shoots Down Rumors of New Trump Coin
Eric Trump swiftly denied rumors that his father, President Donald Trump, was planning to launch another cryptocurrency. The claim was made on social media platform X and drew a significant number of views. In response, Eric Trump described the rumor as 'fraudulent' and stated that no one is launching any kind of coin.
The denial comes as three existing Trump-linked cryptocurrencies continue to trade far below their peak values. Official Trump (TRUMP) was launched on Solana in January 2025 and reached a high of $73.43 within two days, but has since lost most of its value. It currently sits at around $1.37 after rebounding by about 88% due to a broader market rally.
Other Trump-linked coins, such as Melania Meme (MELANIA) and World Liberty Financial (WLFI), have also seen significant declines in value. According to Nansen data, the majority of wallets still holding TRUMP are underwater, with unrealized losses ranging from 85% to over 97%. The outcome is different for President Trump himself, who reported more than $1.4 billion in crypto income for 2025.
The crypto ties of the Trump family have raised concerns among Senate Democrats, including Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal, who are pushing for investigations into potential national security risks. Public backlash has also followed, with a Reuters/Ipsos poll finding that 63% of Americans consider President Trump's profits from cryptocurrency to be inappropriate.
