ESMA Releases Clarifying Guidance on MiCA Crypto Regulations
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has released a new Q&A document to clarify compliance requirements for crypto firms operating in the EU under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.
With over 270 crypto-asset service providers now registered under MiCA, regulatory guidance is more operationally urgent than ever. The Q&A addresses ESG ratings, MiFIR considerations, and MiCA-specific obligations relevant to crypto-asset service providers.
ESMA's role in implementing MiCA goes beyond rule-setting; it also ensures investor protection and market integrity at scale. The new guidance aims to help crypto firms understand what compliance actually looks like in practice, not just in principle.
