Estonian Firm BitSpider Readies Crypto Point-of-Sale System After MiCA Application
BitSpider has been working on its Crypto Point-of-Sale system since at least 2024, when it demonstrated the concept of a tap-and-PIN payment method. The company claims that this approach is more user-friendly than QR code scanning, which is often required for crypto transactions. In July 2026, BitSpider submitted an application to become a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA in Estonia.
The proposed system uses near-field communication (NFC) cards and enables customers to complete transactions without relying on smartphones or wallet applications. This method operates across multiple blockchains and stablecoins, unlike some competing tap-to-pay crypto cards that are limited to Bitcoin. If approved, BitSpider plans to reconsider its point-of-sale offering, focusing initially on the non-custodial payment method that is consistent with its business model.
BitSpider's Crypto POS combines dedicated hardware with a cloud-based management application for merchants and employees. The system handles transactions in line with PCI DSS standards and adheres to anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements.
