ETF Boom Hits Record Pace as Leveraged Funds Skyrocket
The U.S. ETF market is experiencing an unprecedented boom, with over 900 new funds launched in 2026 alone.
This rapid growth has set the market up for its most successful year to date, with approximately 1,470 ETFs expected to be launched by the end of 2026, surpassing the previous record of about 1,050 new ETFs in 2025.
Leveraged ETFs are particularly notable, making up roughly one-third of all new launches in 2026, with over 300 introduced thus far. This is a significant increase from prior years, as only around 200 leveraged ETFs were launched in 2025 and less than 50 in 2024.
When considering derivatives, the trend becomes even more pronounced, with over half of all ETFs introduced in 2026 to date using derivatives. However, despite this record number of launches, the market data suggests that the 2026 ETF market has been relatively weak, with outflows from Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs exceeding inflows.
