ETF Inflows Soar Past $1T Mark as Daily Averages Jump 40%
US-listed exchange-traded funds have seen record-breaking inflows of $1.2 trillion through July, surpassing previous records for this time of year. According to State Street Investment Management, ETFs are currently averaging a daily influx of $5.7 billion, a 40% increase from the same period last year.
In July alone, ETFs pulled in approximately $189-$193 billion, making it one of the strongest single months on record for the industry. Equity ETFs captured around 65% of this monthly haul, with large-cap stocks and S&P 500 index products leading the charge.
Crypto-specific ETFs, including those tracking Bitcoin and Ether, have been a relatively small but notable part of these inflows, attracting hundreds of millions to over $1 billion on peak activity days. However, they still represent a modest slice of the total pie, with equity and fixed-income products dominating the scene.
State Street projects full-year 2026 ETF inflows to reach between $2.1 trillion and $2.3 trillion, which would shatter the 2025 record by roughly 40-50%. Active ETFs have also contributed meaningfully, with issuers launching innovative strategies that expand the addressable market for the ETF wrapper.
