ETH Exploiter's $505K Loss Highlights Dubious Decision-Making
The exploiter behind the high-profile theft from MEV bot Jaredfromsubway has suffered another loss. The thief, who stole $7.7 million in assets on June 21, including 1,583.5 ETH valued at $2.75 million and 4,427 ETH converted from other stolen funds, made a questionable decision to sell some of the Ethereum at a price of $1,695 per token for $3.94 million. The wallet then used this exact amount to buy back 2,063 ETH at a higher price of $1,912 each just ten hours later.
This transaction left the exploiter with 264 fewer ETH, worth roughly $505,000, according to blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain. This move is likely to be seen as an error by many in the crypto community, as it is generally recommended to avoid selling and buying back assets at higher prices due to potential losses.
