ETH-Free Gas Fees Arrive on Ethereum with Frame Transactions
Ethereum has long had an issue where owning cryptocurrency doesn't guarantee you can move it. Without ETH to pay for gas, even a well-funded wallet can remain paralyzed.
A new feature called Frame Transactions (EIP-8141) aims to remove this problem by allowing users to pay gas fees without holding ETH. This is made possible through a payment system provided by a third party or in stablecoins.
The main remaining obstacle for EIP-8141 is adoption by popular wallets like MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, and Trust Wallet. Without their support, users won't be able to benefit from this feature.
