ETH Options Give Traders a Flexible Way to Engage with Ethereum Price Movements
Ethereum options are contracts that give traders the right to buy or sell ETH at a fixed price before a set expiration date.
This allows traders to speculate on ETH's price direction, hedge existing holdings, or generate income using far less capital than buying ETH outright.
The key components of an Ethereum options contract are the strike price, the expiration date, and the premium. The strike price is the fixed rate at which the contract holder can buy or sell ETH, while the expiration date is the deadline by which the contract must be exercised or it lapses.
Ethereum options come in two basic types: call options and put options. Call options give the buyer the right to purchase ETH at the strike price, and they gain value as ETH's price rises. Put options give the buyer the right to sell ETH at the strike price, and they gain value as ETH's price falls.
Traders use Ethereum options for three broad purposes: speculation, hedging, and income generation. Speculation is the most direct use case, where a trader buys a call option if they expect ETH to rise sharply. Hedging is common among traders who want to protect existing ETH positions by buying put options against their holdings.
