$ETH Staking Reaches Record-Breaking Levels on Ethereum Network
The Ethereum network has reached an all-time high in staking activity, with $ETH locked on the network at a record-breaking level. The staking rate has surpassed 34% for the first time, indicating that more and more investors are considering the Ethereum network as a long-term investment.
A total of 41.4 million $ETH is now staked on the network, which represents approximately one-third of Ethereum's total supply. This significant development could lead to a decrease in the circulating supply and increased price volatility if demand remains strong.
The addition of over 1.4 million $ETH to the staking system in just the last week demonstrates the growing interest in staking, which is seen as a positive development for network security. However, experts warn that excessively high staking rates could pose risks in terms of centralization and economic balance.
The Ethereum Foundation is working on a new plan to keep staking rates under control in the long term. The proposal aims to limit the economic mechanism that incentivizes staking more $ETH by stopping new staking rewards once the staking rate exceeds 50%. However, this proposal needs widespread support from the Ethereum community to be implemented.
