Ethena Pay Brings Digital Dollars to Everyday Use with Avalanche
Ethena has introduced Ethena Pay, a mobile financial app that enables users to hold and send USDe digital dollars as well as make purchases using Visa's network of over 130 million merchants. The application combines traditional accounts with digital-dollar balances held in USDe, allowing for seamless movement between fiat and digital currencies.
Avalanche is used as the settlement layer for Ethena Pay, providing speed, low transaction costs, and scalability required to move value within a consumer app. Users do not need to interact directly with blockchain infrastructure or select a network.
Ethena's founder, Guy Young, stated that Avalanche was focused on tokenized assets before others, positioning the partnership as a bet on these assets. The product is part of a broader shift towards digital dollars functioning like money consumers can earn, hold, move, and spend.
