Ethena Volatility: DeFi Rate Hike and TRON Integration Converge
Ethena (ENA) has experienced volatility in recent hours, largely driven by changes in DeFi rates and the launch of USDe and sUSDe on TRON.
A proposed increase in Aave borrowing costs for USDe will directly impact one of Ethena's core yield strategies, making leveraged sUSDe yield loops less attractive. The change, which would raise the base variable borrow rate from 5% to 6%, is expected to result in negative carry before incentives and transaction costs.
The TRON integration, although structurally bullish for USDe and sUSDe distribution, may have been partially front-run and then faded, contributing to ENA's short horizon drawdown. The move has also been amplified by technical traders highlighting a double-top structure on ENA around the $0.18 to $0.19 zone.
