Ether and Silver Rally as Investors Flee the Dollar
The US Treasury's decision to increase liquidity support for 10-to-30-year securities has sent shockwaves through the markets, sparking a strange cross-asset rally that saw Ether jump 17.5% to $2,253 and Silver futures finish 2.79% higher at $65.83.
The move was seen as an attempt to stabilize the bond market, but it had the opposite effect, with investors turning against the dollar and pushing up prices of alternative assets like Ether and Silver.
Ethereum's staking dashboard reported 42.6 million ETH, or 34% of the supply, deposited in staking, while institutional demand for US spot Ether ETFs reached $1.41 billion over nine consecutive positive sessions through August 27.
The rally was also driven by physical constraints on Silver, with a projected market deficit of 46.3 million ounces in 2026 and industrial demand playing a significant role in setting prices.
