Ether ETFs Outshine Bitcoin Funds as Institutions Rotate Toward Smaller Altcoins
Institutional investors opened the week on July 27 with uneven demand for crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Despite this, Blackrock's ETHA led ether ETFs to attract $9.23 million in inflows, as bitcoin funds recorded a third consecutive day of withdrawals.
Bitcoin's outflow streak shows institutions rotating toward ether and smaller altcoins. Only two bitcoin funds reported net activity: IBIT posted an $8.82 million withdrawal, while Fidelity's FBTC lost $2.82 million. No bitcoin ETF attracted fresh capital during the session.
Ether ETFs drew $9.23 million in total, with Blackrock's ETHA adding $11.75 million to its assets. This move is part of a recent trend where investors are showing a greater willingness to allocate toward ether when conditions allow.
Giselle Lai, Director of Digital Assets Strategist at Fidelity International, stated that bitcoin is often the first stop for institutions entering the crypto market. She noted that ETFs are lowering the barrier to entry and helping large investors make more informed allocation decisions.
