Ether.fi Ventures Backs Blockspace to Professionalize Ethereum Infrastructure
Ether.fi Ventures has invested in Blockspace, a commercial entity aiming to professionalize Ethereum's off-protocol infrastructure. This investment is part of Ether.fi's efforts to improve and monetize the underlying systems that support Ethereum transactions.
The team behind Blockspace, led by Drew Van der Werff, is focused on enhancing the layer of infrastructure that handles over 90% of Ethereum's blockspace flow. They will do this without trying to reinvent the protocol itself.
Blockspace has two key constraints: it will monetize exclusively in ETH and has imposed a self-cap on its own stake at 15%. This cap is designed to prevent centralization creep, a concern for Ethereum researchers.
