Ether Sees Modest Price Increase on Soft Inflation Data
Ethereum's native cryptocurrency, Ether, has seen a modest price increase as market participants react to softer-than-expected U.S. inflation data. The token rose by around 0.6% to approximately $1,892.52 on Wednesday, supported by the potential for reduced interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve.
The July Consumer Price Index release showed cooling inflation pressures, which has historically provided a tailwind for risk assets, including cryptocurrencies. Analysts noted that the data, combined with a recent weaker jobs report, has led some observers to scale back expectations for a September rate hike, creating a more supportive backdrop for speculative assets.
Ethereum's price action comes against a backdrop of significant underperformance over the past year, with the token declining more than 50% from levels near $4,950 reached in August 2025. However, network activity has remained robust, with Ethereum dominating areas such as stablecoins, decentralized finance, and the tokenization of real-world assets.
Corporate accumulation has provided a steady demand source for Ether, with BitMine Immersion Technologies maintaining its position as one of the largest corporate holders, reported to be near 5.8 million tokens, or close to 5% of the circulating supply.
