Ethereum Account Abstraction Proposal EIP-8130 Seeks Simplification
A new proposal for account abstraction on Ethereum has been put forth, dubbed EIP-8130. This proposal aims to simplify and standardize account abstraction across the Ethereum network.
EIP-8130 was proposed by Chris Hunter of Coinbase's Base team in October 2025. According to Pedro Gomes, co-founder of WalletConnect, this model is simpler and more portable than a competing proposal, EIP-8141.
The key architectural decision behind EIP-8130 is separating authentication from execution logic. Instead of each wallet running its own custom validation code, the Keystore acts as a shared registry of authentication methods.
