Ethereum Accused of Copying Cardano's Core Design in Stealthy Move
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has accused Ethereum of quietly adopting Cardano's Extended Unspent Transaction Output (EUTXO) design. According to Hoskinson, Ethereum developers are trying to copy EUTXO without giving credit to Cardano. This comes after a new research proposal was published by Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter.
The proposal would treat simple payments as temporary one-shot objects rather than permanent account-state entries, similar to Bitcoin's UTXO model. Wahrstätter estimates that this approach could cut permanent state for payment workloads by about 99.8%. The design builds on previous research and has not yet become a formal Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP).
Hoskinson responded with an accusation, saying that Ethereum developers are trying to copy EUTXO without giving credit to Cardano. He noted that mentioning Cardano is 'literally a crime' inside Ethereum circles.
