Ethereum Accused of Copying Cardano's EUTXO Logic
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has accused Ethereum of quietly copying its EUTXO logic without giving credit. This comes after a research design proposed native UTXO-style payments on Ethereum, treating simple payments as temporary one-shot objects rather than permanent account-state entries.
The proposal, put forward by Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter, aims to reduce Ethereum's state growth by about 99.8%. This would cut down the permanent state for payment workloads from around 100-150 bytes to just 0.3 bytes per native UTXO.
Hoskinson fired back at Ethereum developers, saying they are trying to copy Cardano's Extended Unspent Transaction Output design without mentioning it. He noted that any protocol change would need review and a hard fork before being implemented.
