Ethereum Accused of Quietly Copying Cardano's Core Design
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has accused Ethereum of quietly copying its core design. In particular, he claims that Ethereum is adopting Cardano's EUTXO (Extended Unspent Transaction Output) logic without giving credit.
Ethereum researcher Toni Wahrstätter recently proposed a new design for one-shot payment objects, which would reduce the permanent state growth on the network by about 99.8%. This approach is similar to Bitcoin's UTXO model, where each output is created once and then spent. The proposal builds on previous ideas, including Frame Transactions (EIP-8141) and was credited to Vitalik Buterin.
Hoskinson responded by saying that Ethereum developers are copying EUTXO without mentioning Cardano's role in its development. He noted that referencing Cardano would be 'literally a crime' within the Ethereum community, pointing out that Cardano has been the third-largest asset on CoinMarketCap.
