Ethereum Activates Pectra Upgrade on Sepolia Testnet Ahead of Mainnet Launch
Ethereum developers have activated the Pectra upgrade on the Sepolia testnet, marking a significant milestone in the network's progression toward its mainnet rollout.
The activation occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. UTC and serves as the final major test phase before the upgrade is deployed on Ethereum's mainnet.
The Pectra upgrade builds upon the March 2024 Dencun hard fork, which aimed to reduce layer-2 transaction fees.
This latest upgrade aims to improve Ethereum's scalability, security, and usability, with notable improvements including account abstraction through EIP-7702 and increased validator stakes from 32 to 2,048 ETH via EIP-7251.
