Ethereum and Base Blockchain Networks Diverge in Account Abstraction Standards
The Ethereum and Base blockchain networks are diverging in their implementation of account abstraction standards. This decision was made after efforts to agree on a shared standard broke down last week. According to Derek Chiang, a founding member and researcher at Ethlabs, the main goal of each chain took priority over interoperability.
Chiang noted that layer-1 blockchain networks, like Ethereum, are focusing on features such as censorship resistance, open-source code, privacy, and security. This is in contrast to layer-2 networks, which prioritize scalability. As a result, the two chains have chosen different account abstraction standards.
Ethereum is advancing Frame Transactions under EIP-8141, which would introduce native account abstraction and improve post-quantum authentication. Meanwhile, Base is developing its own native account abstraction via Keystore under EIP-8130, currently live on devnet.
