Ethereum and Base Developers Abandon Joint Account Abstraction Efforts
The Ethereum and Base developers have ended their joint effort to synchronize two account abstraction proposals, EIP-8130 and EIP-8141. The collaboration was aimed at creating a shared standard for both networks, but ultimately failed due to opposing priorities.
Ethereum prioritizes censorship resistance and security, while Base targets scale and compliance. As a result, the burden of managing fragmentation will fall on wallet developers.
If both proposals move forward separately, wallet developers will need to support two distinct native transaction formats. Derek Chiang, developer at Ethlabs, expressed moderate optimism about the situation, stating that 'if executed well, and if the wallet community manages to bridge the fragmentation, we could end up with the best possible UX for end users.'
