Ethereum and Base Diverge on Account Abstraction Standards
Ethereum and Base developers have abandoned their efforts to create a joint account abstraction standard due to irreconcilable differences in priorities. While Ethereum is focusing on censorship resistance, privacy, and security, Base is prioritizing scalability, customization, and compliance.
The decision leaves wallet developers facing the possibility of supporting two native transaction formats if both proposals are eventually deployed. According to Derek Chiang, a developer at Ethlabs, the teams found that any technical solution would require one side or the other to compromise on their core goals.
