Ethereum and Base Split Over Account Abstraction Standard
Ethereum and Base have failed to establish a common account abstraction standard, leaving the two networks to continue developing the technology separately.
The decision means wallet developers will now need to support different transaction formats across both platforms, adding complexity to their work.
Ethereum is pushing forward with frame transactions based on EIP-8141 as part of its next upgrade, Hegotá, which includes native account abstraction and a transition path to quantum-resistant authentication. Base, meanwhile, is developing native account abstraction through a Keystore based on EIP-8130.
According to Derek Chiang, co-author of Ethereum Improvement Proposal EIP-8141, the split was due to each chain prioritizing its own core goals over an interoperability standard.
