Ethereum and Solana Poised to Benefit from AI-Driven Crypto Growth
Coinbase is predicting that crypto's next wave of growth will come from AI agents transacting with each other. According to the company, the preconditions for this trend have already been met.
Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis reported over 100 million agent payments on Coinbase's Base blockchain through the first quarter of 2026. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong claims that these agents will eventually out-transact all humans combined.
The chains with the most real agent activity today are Ethereum and Solana, aside from Base. This is because agentic payments settle in stablecoins, and no single network has locked in the standard. Agents don't have many other places to do business, making these two coins the best candidates for capturing value through transaction fees.
Both chains have vibrant ecosystems of financial services, many of which are increasingly open to access from agents. This makes them well-positioned to benefit from the growth of agentic commerce in crypto.
