Ethereum Builders Face Dilemma Between Locking Up Cash and Relying on Trusted Brokers

Ethereum protocol builders are faced with a dilemma when it comes to funding their payments. According to Lido contributors, there are costs associated with idle Ethereum, failed delivery, and offers they wanted to cancel. This could make trusted connections more competitive.

Titan Builder expects validators to continue reaching them through relays that organize auctions and handle publication. An operator's configuration determines which block-payment opportunities its validators can consider, as well as access to those validators.

Lido is discussing a proposed direction ahead of a future DAO vote, with Glamsterdam testing on devnets and expected to launch on mainnet in the fourth quarter of 2026. Separating consensus work from execution processing gives validators more time for heavy work.
