Ethereum Deposits Hit 450K Amid Price Decline
Ethereum's price has taken a hit, plummeting from its October peak near $4,900 to the current region of around $1,900.
This decline has led to an influx of Ethereum deposits on Binance, with unique deposit addresses jumping from approximately 360,000 to over 450,000, a roughly 25% increase and the highest reading in six months.
The surge in deposits is often viewed as a proxy for potential sell-side pressure, as assets moved to exchanges become readily available for liquidation or margin replenishment.
CryptoQuant's report highlighted two on-chain interpretations: retail capitulation, where smaller holders are exiting positions due to the price breaching the $2,000 threshold; and derivatives positioning, where traders may be depositing ETH as collateral to maintain leveraged longs rather than selling outright.
