Ethereum Developers Accused of Censoring Comments Against Staking Rewards Cap Proposal

Ethereum developers are facing criticism for allegedly censoring comments against EIP-8363, a staking rewards cap proposal.

Pro-crypto attorney Gabriel Shapiro claimed that one developer deleted around 50 comments on the ETH Magicians forum, where critics wrote most of those comments.

The developers defended their actions by saying they removed duplicate accounts, which they called 'sockpuppet accounts', created using AI to argue against the proposal.

However, some analysts have spoken out against the censorship move, saying it would only encourage more opposition and affect Ethereum credit markets and solo stakers.

Aave CEO Stani Kulechov expressed his concern over the developers' tactics, while Ether.Fi's Mike Silagadze led the DeFi community to oppose the proposal.

Currently, validators are signaling only 3% support for the proposal, with the rest of the 97% against it. The staking ratio has hit a record high of 35%, meaning the 50% target under the proposal could be quickly reached.
