Ethereum Developers Eye Upgrade for Enhanced Transaction Privacy
Ethereum developers are considering a new upgrade called Frame Transactions, which could allow privacy pools to pay their own transaction fees without third-party intermediaries.
The proposal, known as EIP-8141, is one of 66 being considered for the 2027 Hegotá upgrade. When combined with other proposals, it could enable privacy pools to pay their own fees, removing the need for outside parties.
Frame Transactions would give wallets more control over how transactions are handled and executed, according to Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter. The proposal is seen as a key building block for Ethereum's next-generation transaction experience.
FOCIL, another proposal confirmed for the upgrade, aims to prevent valid transactions from being left out of blocks. Combining FOCIL with Frame Transactions could give privacy transactions protocol-level inclusion guarantees.
