Ethereum Developers Narrow Down Hegotá Upgrade Proposals
Ethereum developers are refining the scope of Hegotá, the network's planned upgrade for 2027. Currently, there are dozens of proposals under review, with FOCIL (Fork Choice enforced Inclusion Lists) as the sole feature scheduled for inclusion.
The Ethereum community is weighing competing proposals covering censorship resistance, account abstraction, privacy, gas pricing, and validator economics. Core developers agreed to finalize the proposed list by late August, with execution client teams submitting ranked preference lists by September 10.
Native account abstraction remains less settled, with EIP-8141 proposing Frame Transactions and EIP-8130 serving as a comparison point. Several gas repricing proposals target further Layer 1 scaling, including recalibrating state creation pricing as the block gas limit rises beyond reference levels.
